How it works

The SunTrac SmartPanel employs a solar thermal air conditioning technology where pressure and heat are added to the refrigeration cycle, which reduces the required workload of the compressor and lowers the overall power consumption of the system.

This hybrid thermal AC method displaces a portion of the mechanical energy used by variable capacity, multi-stage, and variable speed compressors, keeping the compressors in low stage, low range, or low capacity while still delivering full and part-load cooling requirements. This approach translates to significant energy savings.

Panel components

As a solar thermal air conditioning solution, the SunTrac SmartPanel harnesses energy from the sun through parabolic mirrored concentrators that focus the reflected sunlight on specially coated copper pipes, supplementing the passing refrigerant with heat from the sun. This concentrated parabolic array allows for a larger harvesting of energy with a smaller footprint.

A photo-tracking eye keeps the parabolas pointed at the sun, rotating synchronously with the sun’s movement throughout the day. Built-in sensors and controls maintain the system’s temperature, delivering consistent and regulated energy.
